Description

Saturday Larry and I split our original bee hive because of too many bees. We removed several frames of brood and left the Queen with the original hive. This was Saturday. When a hive is Queenless and there are larve in cells the bees will feed one of the larva with Royal Jelly in which it will grow into a Queen..the cell is larger and looks like a peanut. In 4 days this what what's happening in our new hive. Our new Queen Atha (named after Larry's Grandmother) should hatch on the 29th of May. This is just the coolest thing I've ever been involved in.

Dee Member Registered: 06/27/05 Posts: 2561 Loc: Alabama	I meant to add that if more than one queen is hatched they will fight to the death...one the surviving queen has killed off her competition she will rest for about a week before taking her maiden flight...and I meant to say ...She will mate with...., instead of We will...LOL. I didn't heed the warning the guard bees were giving and sure enough they started coming after me...two of them. One got me...feels like a needle sticking you. I brushed the stinger out quickly so I didn't have much reaction...and not alergic, thank goodness.
