Have you ever reacted and then realize that you should have checked your wardrobe first?

Today I heard dogs barking and looked out the upstairs window...below were 4 dogs I didn't know but I certainly didn't want them in my yard...the area is a common place for dogs to be dumped or dogs that are running in packs to come through...I felt my dog, Molly, who is gentle as a kitten, might be in harms way...so I go tearing down the stairs and out the back door screaming at the top of my lungs trying to run them off...of course Molly runs after them to show me what a good protector she is...and she and one of the dogs tie it up on the edge of the woods. I run across the back yard, my arms waving in the yard still trying to run off the dogs and calling for Molly...she comes bounding out of the woods with the other dogs high tailing it to who knows where...she came running up to me all tail wagging and tongue flopping...I bent down to tell her what a good dog she was when I realized I was standing in my huge backyard in just a t-shirt and my white granny panties...I was mortified...the woods side of the property wasn't my worry..it's the opposite side where most of my neighbors' homes back yards butt up against our property with somewhat clear views of us from their back windows...
I can only imagine what they must have thought to see and hear this 55 year old woman raising cain, running down the back yard, arms flailing, screaming at the dogs and my boomer butt bouncing all the way. I'm sure they wondered who the scariest was...the 4 dogs or me.

Yeah...it was funny. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only person who reacts first and then things about clothing second.

Too funny and I imagine a site to behold. If you are bothered by strays/packs and they can be dangerous especially to house pets. Go out and buy a cap pistol or a starter pistol and it will scare the beegeebies out of them and no danger of hurting you, your pet or them. Another good scare tactic is a cow bell, they hate that sound and will run like all get out....

Now Dee, don't WEAR the cow bell hun...just clang it when the dog pack comes around...k? HAHAHAH...

I had to laugh at your story because you sound like my twin. Were we separated at birth? Trixie locked me out of the house once, and I was in my Daddy's flannel PJ's, and it was pouring down rain. My neighbors think I'm nuts. Go figure.

You crack me up, JJ. Twins? We're both from Alabama...hmmm.

Being caught in the rain...OMG. That's got to be miserable.

Dee.. I can just picture you running with your arms outstretched, hollering at the top of your lungs. What a sight you must have been. If I were your neighbor, I'd be looking out the window laughing my butt off. Then, I'd carefully lock the door and close the blinds. Don't want any crazy ladies coming around. What a hoot! I go out in my jammies/nighty every day in the morning to take Jack out to do his business. My backyard is surrounded by a high wooden fence, but I bet people can still see me if they tried.

When Jack was a puppy, he had a habit of racing out the front door whenever it was opened. Thank goodness, I was dressed each time he did it, but I would have raced right out after him even if I didn't have clothes on. Neighbors be damned. My dog comes before modesty. Thank goodness he doesn't try to get out the front door anymore. We were able to train him to stop doing that.

Vicki,
Jack...that's a nice name for a pet...reminds me of a collie we had when I was about 7...his name was Jack. Cool dog.

Anne327...you made me laugh hard...America's Funniest...yeah, that would have been funny. I can't imagine running after raccoon's in just my t-shirt...that's brave girl! LOL

Nope, she knew better...but she was snickering. I said to her, "Do the words "VET" mean anything to you?" She hasn't tried that since then.

Dee, such a hoot! Until a few months ago, my neighbor up the street would sit on the front porch stoop in his boxer underware to smoke or play the guitar with nothing else on but socks! While walking me dog, I would turn my eyes in the other direction as I did not want to know if his guitar fully covered the flute or not.

Playing his guitar is one thing BUT when a man can play his own flute, run like the devil himself is after you...

Dee, if you write like you post; you'll get published for sure. That was like a short video clip!
Once while shopping. I saw a lady scream in panic as she looked down upon herself to discover she stood in front of the store's entrance in her blouse and big lady underpants. She fled back into the store. I can only assume she forgot to put her skirt or pants back on, after trying clothes on in the dressing room. YIKES !
That's a senior moment for you.

I was at a ritzy Southern California museum for a special luncheon. When I came out of the bathroom, lots of folks were staring at me. I just thought I was beautiful - until a woman came up to me and let me know that I had tucked the back of my skirt into the waistband of my pantyhose and had been walking around with my butt and legs showing.

What gets me is that there were two ladies in the restroom that MUST have seen me leave like that, and they didn't stop me. Maybe they thought it was candid camera or something. Yikes!

The only good thing is that it happened about 20 years ago, so my butt was way nicer to look at than it is now! If that happened now, I'd be even more mortified!

I do wonder about those ladies - I bet they thought it would be funny. And it is - 20 years later...

I've done the skirt tuck in the panty hose before, but thank God never made it out the door. Someone was kind enough to tell me before I left the ladies room.

Now, whenever I wear a skirt with pantyhose now (ha!) I do a "sweep" with my hand all around my behind, making sure all I feel is skirt.

One Sunday morning my then 18 mo old gs was inside the back door and I was outside dealing with a dog problem. He locked the door from the inside and I couldn't get in! The other door was locked also. I had to go next door in my leapard print flannel pjs to use my neighbor's phone to call my sister, who lived 1 block away at the time. She came over with a spare key to my house within minutes. At the time I was more concerned with my gs being scared, but after it was all over, I was glad it wasn't warmer outside, I may have had on something a little skimpier.

Kathy and Vicki; It's happened to me too! I was in stewardess school. We had a huge cafeteria where not only did the stewardesses dine but the pilots as well. I came from the ladies room and walked through the cafeteria with the back part of the dress tucked in my underpants. I walked between the rows of tables, and no one said a word! Finally one girl, sitting at a table grabbed me by the arm and whispered to me that my undies are eating my dress. I couldn't hear what she said, so what did I do? Of course; I bent down to her.
While I'm typing this I'm dying. Just dying.

All of you guys are cracking me up. Isn't it fun to remember our most embarrassing moments? Did anyone ever have toilet paper stick to your shoe when you walked out of the bathroom? Then you try to shake it off and it doesn't, of course, so you look rediculous standing there, one leg shaking like you are doing some funky dance from the 60's and of course everyone is looking your way. Sooooo embarrassing.

Thank you for asking Chatty. I never thought a grandchild could awake such strong loving feelings. She's a heartful all right. She woke up only once in the night. I stayed up till 3:00 A.M. because I was worried I may not hear her. Little did I know what a built in sirene she has. I think our neighbors 3 rows back heard her.
