From what I've seen lately, step-parents had better grow eyes in the back of their heads. All you STEPS who are parenting, expect the unexpected. And may the Good Lord protect and keep you.

My son married a woman with two children and now they are both grown adults. They were a handful at times for my son but he was unrelenting in showing them his love and dependability no matter what they did. Now they are all so close it makes me tear up. They will come to him with their problems and their joys. I am their Gramdma and have never once regretted it. My granddaughter spoils me rotten.

Chatty, but your son set a perfect example and that makes all the difference in the world. Not everyoen has that example to live by.

I'd describe a dear friend as "A stepmother in harms way."
She was a great step; she cooked, cleaned, financially back the entire brood. Now she's penniless. Her health has faded. She's isolated from her many friends.
I'm glad some of you have had a great experience in the stepchildren area. But some folks aren't so lucky. All I'm saying is watch your back.

I've had to watch my back for 13-years now. I've become very self-protective in this area and have learned to love from a distance.

So sorry about your friend. Poor thing.

Can we pray for your friend Bonnie? I know for a fact that you get a bunch of Boomers praying and the good Lord listens.

Yes indeed...please pray, pray, pray. I've been praying for 16 months now. She was better--returned to about 90% of wellness. But she's going backwards. I can't get any calls through to her. She isn't eating. She was walking without assistance. Now she's using a walker, again. This is the most heartbreaking circumstance I've ever faced. And believe me, I've faced some beauties. I don't have PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) for nothing. But this, this takes the heart right out of me. So, yes.
Please pray!!!

I got a phone call through to my friend. She isn't feeling well again. I don't know what's going on. God is the only one who does. I keep praying He'll get in the middle of that situation and straighten it out. Please, help me pray for Almighty God to mastermind a grand turnaround; so this sweet angel can live the rest of her life in peace. Thanks!

You got it Bonnie. I've been waiting to hear how she's doing. May God comfort her and help her. Its just unbelievable that some people can be cruel to elders. I just don't get it. But it happens every day. So sad!

Dotsie did you ever get that email info I sent to you on Adoption? This woman was looking for feedback and was writing a piece about successful adoptions.

chatty, I never received it. Darn. I'd love to contribute. Our oldest two are adopted from Korea, then I got pregnant while waiting for our daughter to arrive. That's why our youngest two are only two months apart.

Bonnie, since we adopted from Korea, some people think we did this wonderful act for mankind. I had more selfish reasons in mind. I wanted a family. Period! I couldn't be more grateful. I spoke with both of my adotped children today - long distance. They called me. Gotta love it!

Dear Dotsie & JJ,
Hey, Dotsie...most folks adopt because they want a family.
What's wrong with that? It's still a wonderful thing to do.
Kids need homes. Grownups need kids in order 2 b moms and dads.
JJ my friend had eye surgery a couple days back. That eye is much improved. I'm hoping she has the cataract removed from the other eye soon. And I'm praying she won't feel so vulnerable and helpless after that. I'm praying this is the beginning of the healing process. She's normally a very intelligent person. I'm hoping her spunk returns and she regains control of her situation. With God all things are possible. I have to believe that!!! Please keep praying!!!
Luv,

bonnierose, Thats one of the reason why every single morning of my life when I rise and open my eyes and look around at the world we share, I say THANK YOU GOD! I so appreciate everything given to me, health, sight, hearing, family, just everything. I will continue to pray for your friend. My mother (bless her heart) taught us to be always thankful for the things we were given and that really works. I give her the credit for making me so happy with most things people take for granted, which they shouldn't because in the blink of an eye, one or more of these blessings could be gone.

Keep the prayers going to Heaven for my precious angel.
Since I visited her, I'm more concerned than ever. If God would only send an undercover investigator to expose the emotional abuse in that environment, what a blessing that would be. I hope those villains live to be 105 and get back some of their own treatment, the last three decades.
