Audrey Dorsch puts out a very informative newsletter for Christian Writers and posted the following request for queries on the Inscribe listserve (note this is a Canadian publication - pays 12 cents/word Cdn or 8 cents/word US)

Hello folks,

My files of prospective articles for Exchange are getting rather thin, so
I'm issuing a call for query letters.

Exchange pays 12 cents/word on publication.

I look for articles that are practical in nature and focus on a very
specific aspect of the business, craft, or ministry of writing.

I'm particularly always in search of topics that are of interest to
experienced writers. (Not that I exclude articles for novices, but I seem to
receive more of those queries naturally, whereas I have to work a little
harder to get topics for the more advanced.)

I also welcome articles that may be more philosophical than practical in
nature, such as examining the effectiveness of Christian publishing, why the
evangelical branch of the church seems to be less interested in literary
material, etc. In such types of articles, a little controversy is a good
thing. (It might even generate letters to the editor - which would be a
great thing.)

As always, a query letter should be specific enough to give me a good idea
of what the article will contain - not merely suggesting an idea.
