My other son isn't married but if he does, regardless of his wife, I will stay out of their lives unless invited in, and will make every effort to be friendly, yet remain in the background. I truly want my DIL(s) to shine. This isn't always possible and I can say that NOW because the girl my youngest is with IS NOT, in my opinion, the DIL I would want...but it isn't my choice. If he does marry her, I will show her the same respect she will hopefully show my son. If she doesn't, then she will get the same from me. If she makes him happy, I'm her best friend.
