Remember when Michael was born? He's now 1 year and 5 months old. This picture was taken yesterday. He loves our ranch house and races from one room to the other. We gave him a teddy bear as big as he is, and he cuddles it like theres no tomorrow. He's such a sweety, always giving kisses and hugs.

Notice we are dressed as if it were a winter day! It's sooo cold, we have the heater going and the fireplace roaring. It's been raining day and night for the past 5 days!

Absolutely he is a doll! Oh....I want him! Send him over. Auntie JJ will take good care of that little chap. I miss the days of cuddling with a baby...my grandbeauties are so big I can hardly get them in my lap!

I've been catching up on NABBW member articles, and came across this one from JJ about grandchildren. I don't even have grandchildren, and this made me laugh, especially the first line!

funny JJ

Oh gosh, thank you for posting the Link, Princess!!!

I don't think I have ever read a lovier article on grandchildren, ever!!! That was big heart warming time, JJ.

Michael has devolped his own accent. When he calls his mother its'; MAma. When he call me it's maMA! It's sooo funny, and he gets so frustrated if the wrong mama reacts. lol

Ah shucks, EW...<Queen sticks out toe and makes semi-circle with it while holding her head down in one of those embarrassed looks> you're making me blush, gal...thanks.

My grandbeauties are my world. Lea is four and has learned the word "distinguished." She picked it up from an educational show on TV. So we're off to the grocery store (to set the scene). Everyone that passes us in the store Lea stops and says, "You know, you are very distinguished." Oh boy...they all seemed to think she was really paying them a compliment. I just smiled and said, "She's really 15."

Great looking kid, Edelweiss. I love that he has figured out how to use the same word differently for each of you.

JJ, once again, your words touch my heart and put a smile on my face. Love pours through your words.

No the parents haven't given him anything sweet except fruit. Infact, they did a remarkable job. The mother nursed him over a year. And after nursing, he immediately drank from a cup. Never had a bottle! I find that amazing. He's such a happy baby, squeeling with delight at everything he sees, I would love to give him some chocolate...but no-no, slap my hand! His mama would kill me.

By the way, " A is coming back from Florida next week. Can't wait to see my Pumpiamkin! I wonder if she speaks German with a southern accent now. That would be cute.

EW...he's a darlin' little guy. So cute and how lucky is he to have you as grandmother.

Are you teaching him both German and English? One thing I am impressed with Europe about is the importance of speaking more than one to two languages. I was amazed at how many Europeans could speak english.

And how about your little A coming home again...how sweet will that be. Please, post a photo of the two of you (or 3) together. I bet you can't wait to see her. Give her a huge hug and smooch from her Aunt Dee.

Dee, you asked me to post a picture of "A". Well, you KNOW, my friend, you don't have to ask me to do that twice. These pictures were taken this past weekend with "A" and Michael. grin And to answer your question, yes they are both growing up bilingual. I allready feel sorry for you guys when the third grandchild is born in October. lol

Those big, bright eyes on Michael are amazing. Both children are beautiful and I'm seeing the joy on your face Grannie, from the love they give to you.

If I am being nosey; ignore the question, if not, how is A doing with her mother now? Does she still cry when she has to go home?

Sweet photos! Michael's cheeks and toes are begging for a pinch and a tickle. Has he got all his teeth now, EW? And, A always brings a smile.

With all the beautiful photos you've taken of the grandchildren, have you thought of making a family calendar using those? It'll also be a good childhood memento for them. You can use Michael's photo watering grass for Spring, the one with post-its for Summer, A's egg painting with Opa for the Easter month, etc.

Chatty, you aren’t being nosey at all. You girls have been accompanying my path with “A” for so long. You are family.

Yes, “A” still cries when she leaves us, but it isn’t the heart breaking sobbing anymore. Sometimes, but mostly not. Her mother has been trying to bond with her the past two months, and I think it’s working. She flew to Florida with her for 4 weeks, came back for our big birthday party, and to everyone’s surprise flew with “A” again to Florida for another 3 weeks. Apparently she got some cheap stand by tickets.

My dil claimed her grandmother is terminally ill, and she wanted to be with her. Oh please, her grandmother has Alzheimer’s, and doesn’t even know who her granddaughter is. (And yes, the grandmother is still alive today.) Oh well, the most amazing part of all this is that she and my son seem to get along very well. I don’t ask many questions. I’m just grateful when there is peace and harmony in the family, and that “A” has apparently adapted. The only thing that I find strange is she never goes to her Mom, at least when we are there.

My son and dil want us to come along on their summer vacation, end of August.. We would rent a Finca ( a Spanish farm house) on Mallorca. So, I take that for a good sign.

Lola, Michael’s mom creates those calendars every Christmas. I have made photo books though. I love them, and there is always one lying around in our living room to leaf through. How are your little angels doing?

How cool that you've been invited on their vacation. What a blessing that is.

I wouldn't think too much aobut her coming to you instead of her mom. Remember, you raised her for quite awhile.

I'm glad things have settled for them. We all know that when our kids are happy, so are we.

Jawjaw,
What a neat article you wrote about your grandbeauties! I loved it. Today was the 1st I noticed it. You are so talented when it

EW,
You look like a fun grandmother. My favorite person in the whole
world was my grandmother. I think about the things she said. I think about her apple pie and turkey dressing. I think about her
baby blue eyes and snow white hair. Grandmothers. They're the
greatest people on earth!

I have 4 granddaughters. My Italian baby was bilingual at an extremely young age. I'm close as skin with all 3 American grandbabies. Grandchildren. They're the greatest people on earth!

Did the video 'stutter'? It might do that the first time you see it...but the second time (if you want to do that to yourself), it's smooth rolling.

It is fun to put a slide show together. I wish I could do that proffesionally...and forget about the real-estate. lol.
Thanks Lola and Dee...you are so sweet. And no, Lola...I did not climb the tree...I may have gotton shot, being mistaken for a bear. lol

They are all swell and grand, EW. Took them to Amsterdam and The Hague for a holiday and my daughter's family is still in London as the two older grandchildren are into their summer courses in the City. One's with ballet and the other with violin lessons. The little one is preoccupied with imagination. Currently, he is Anakin Skywalker. So, my house is rather busy and I have bruises from lightsaber duels. They go back home next week, which is when school starts again. Thanks for asking.

Dee, you first need a movie program to put your photos in. There are some very easy ones like Fotostory for Windows, which you could download from the internet for free. Once you have created a show with the program, then you can put it into Youtube. I wish I were near you to show it to you. It can be overwhelming in the beginning.

Depending on the weather, we can see the Alps all the way to the Zugspitze.

Dotsie. now my life is an open book, lol...I guess it's the next best thing to seeing each other live. I've gained so much weight the past three years...I don't know why. Because of that I was hesitant on posting the pictures...but that's the way I am now... far from accepting it...but not hiding it anymore.

Lola, bruises from light saber duels? I say give him a soft rubber sable...What a sweet grandma you are.

EW...I'm glad you aren't in hiding any longer. We love you and to me you're absolutely beautiful. Don't know if I told you or not but I printed out a photo of you and have it near my computer. Now when folks hear me talking about my sister heart I can show them who I'm talking about.

Ahhhh...the Zugspitze...I'm soooooooooooooooooo jealous. smile

Thanks for the utube advice...I'll try it and see what I can come up with.

Love and hugs

Dee, I printed your photo out too! This is such a hoot!

Gims, my Hubby took the photos, and I think my son took the ones of me and “A” on the terrace. We have a lot of shutterbugs among us. I’m so glad you are getting back into photography, and can’t wait to see photos of your grandchildren. Wooeee…the more the merrier!

We just had “A” for 5 days. I got to steal JJ’s expression…”could eat those grands with a spoon.” So true!

"could eat those grands with a spoon" --- that is so true.
I had the four boys and my camera this weekend, but did not take one picture -- we were just too busy to think pictures. I really need to keep that idea in mind 'all the time,' missing so many opportunities to capture their wee lives in frame. Will try to do better.
