I thought the yellow gold dress quite stunning and just right for such a ceremony...but I did not like her green gloves. Why green gloves? She should have worn gloves that go with the dress.
And I don't care for gowns with one shoulder strap. It always looks abit lopsided to me. The gown looked abit too girly, for my taste. I think something more elegant would have been called for. Does she have an advisor? Maybe you should give her a call , Dancer. lol

Michelle's height and figure since she is in reasonably good shape, can carry solid bright colours well and classic/sleek tailored lines. Based on what my dim memory can recall from other photos in magazines etc., alot of the times she looks fine.
But the ignaural ball dress actually bewildered me when I first saw her in it. It makes her look like a tall bird with slightly tattered white feathers. Instead she would have looked fantastic in a 1 solid jewel/bright coloured (1 shade) no prints, structured long dress.
In my personal opinion, when you have dark brown/black hair; black, clear skin and not overweight which Michelle fits all criteria, there are certain solid, bright(er) colours that look fantastic. Michelle does follow the latter tendency in many of her other outfits.

I agree with MustangGal. I thought she was lovely! If she was happy with her dresses, then that is all that matters. I'm sure the dresses looked much different in person than what we saw on TV. We could not see the details as well as someone there. I do recall hearing one of the TV reporters commenting on her yellow dress. They said the jacket was made of wool so she was kept a little bit warmer. Got to hand it to Mrs.Obama, walking and standing around in the cold all day in high heels. OUCH! As always, the girls were cute as can be! President Obama looked pretty darn dashing himself!

I think her clothes styles makes a statement that one does not HAVE to be glamorous to be the First Lady. I like her style!
