GUILTLESS FRENCH FRIES

These are so easy and so good...

Ingredients:

3 large Russett potatoes
1 egg white
black pepper, freshly ground

Directions:

1) Cut potatoes into thin french fry-size strips

2.) In a bowl whip egg white until foamy. Add black pepper and mix well.

3.) Add potatoes and toss to coat well

4.) Spread potatoes on nonstick cookie sheet in single layer

5.) Cook for 30-35 minutes at 450* or until potatoes are crisp and brown...

Everyone has their own favorite way to eat french fries. Give your fries some zip by dipping them in vinegar! Or try one of the variations below.

Spicy Fries

Add 1 tbsp. chili powder and 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper to egg white bath.

Gourmet Potatoe Fries

Use 1 Russett potatoe, 1 Yukon Gold potatoe, and 1 Sweet potatoe in the recipe.

Garlic fries

Add 1 tsp. garlic powder and 1 tsp. paprika to egg white bath.

Chatty, I can't have french fries without vinegar. When I came to the States, I had to ask for it when I ate out and many times restaurants don't carry it. Got some funny looks from waitresses. Vinegar cuts the grease but I use it for taste. French Fries, dressing(stuffing) and brown gravy was another thing I was used to. Don't see it much here. Only place I found a hot roast beef sandwich, fries and brown gravy was Nashville, Tennessee.

Plenty here in Vegas, hot turkey or beef or even pork, with mashed potatoes, and gravy. Some put the meat on bread too and then add potatoes and gravy. I love the vinegar fries.

Yes that's what I was talking about roast beef between two slices of bread smothered in brown gravy with fries and if I had known when I was there...well...I would have gained a pound or three.

Well Chick if you ever come back here I promise to fill you up with 'hot beef' or 'hot turley' of 'hot pork' sandwiches which is what they are called here. They are so good and everybody sells them...
