My husband and I watched a movie, then played Scrabble. We watched the ball drop on TV then had a glass of sparkling grape juice and toasted each other and the new year.

My goodness, we were not able to plan our anniversaries together.

Nathan was born on November 27. We were notified about 2 weeks later and saw him on Dec 19th for the first time. In Maryland, birth parents can change their minds after they have revoked their parental rights, 30 days after signing the papers. Nathan's birthparents wanted to put a plan together so they asked that he not live with his adoptive family for the 30 days becasue they did not want to break up a home.

We gritted our teeth until Dec 31 when we could bring him home! [Big Grin] It was just meant to be.

Lynn, what a great story. I know a coupel who brought the child home during the 30 say period and the birth parents changed their mind. [Frown] It was very sad. They had to give the child back.
This was years ago. They have since adopted a son who is now 18 years old. I didn't know the law still existed.

Vicki, thanks for the Scrabble reminder. We need to get that out of the cupboard. We've gone through stages of playing that game while the kids were growing up. [Big Grin] Who won? You or your hubby?

I love scrabble. My husband refuses to play with me any more because I've gotten too good. Right now I'm playing in 6 online scrabble tournaments and 6 other games with friends. I can't join tournaments in my busy work seasons.

OH NOOO! Say it isn't so?! That what you brought your new year in doing is what it will be like for the rest of the year.

I took a trip to Mississippi with 'El Desparado' and was lost in some small town called Parigold when the clock struck midnight. (see Singlehood Forum for El Desparado details) NOOOOOO!

My daughter was very optimistic though. She says that means I'll spend the rest of the year seeing new things and visiting new places.

I was proud of her. She turned 18 in December. I was gone out of state. She and a few of her friends spent the new year at church praising God. Isn't that just lovely? I was so pleased when she told me about the good time she and her friends had there.

Happy New Year

Sugaree,
Don't worry. I don't think your New Year will be filled with 'suffering with the crazies'. [Wink] I think your daughter is right. It will be filled with travel to new places and meeting new people. Of course not all of them will be 'good'. [Eek!] Life isn't like that - - But - - God can always take bad and make it into good, so REJOICE! Have fun and don't forget to tell us about your adventures. Unique

I agree with Dotsie...sounds like your daughter has a good head on her shoulders. I bet her cup is always half full. I wouldn't worry about NY's superstitions. I didn't eat Black-eyed peas...so there you go! I already had wonderful things happen. You just keep trying Sug...you'll be fine!

We walked around my sister and brother in law's neighborhood and checked out the wonderful bakeries. Went to a French grocery store and bought things for dinner and returned to their place and cooked and celebrated a French New Years Eve including this pastry that has a charm hidden in it and if you get the charm, there is a crown you get to wear. I got to wear the crown! Shared it with all at the table too. Watched an American DVD and David and I were back in our hotel room by 10. So, does this mean I get to spend the rest of my life in Paris? Really wouldn't want to. God Bless America!
