I would give a plated meal to an old man who lived in a caravan on some land nearby. He had worked for a contractor who had a threshing mill which went from farm to farm.He lived in his caravan in the barn courtyard. He also acted a security man for the contractors yard.Well once old the "boss" asked for rent and moved the caravan to another place. It fell apart but the old man fixed it up.
I did ask him to eat with us but he said he had to stay in..for what I dont know no one ever came.So I took his meal and a paper hat over.I would also give him food for his cats...but knew he ate it.
The contactor sold house sites on his field...made a bomb but I wonder what he thinks in dead on night.
The old man finally went to the old folks home.I gave him a complete outfit from my Grandfather..I think actions speak louder than words.

mountain, how sweet of you. Giving him food for his cats is such a thoughtful way to give him food. I'm sure you blessed him on many occasions.

Hannelore, we've never had people we hardly know for Christmas, but it's something I've considered. I'm always afraid they wouldn't feel comfortable, or might feel left out. I agree. It's something everyone has to want to do or else it wouldn't work. Some family members may see it as an intrusion. Sad, but true.

During Thanksgiving, we took a plate next door to Mr. Bob (as we call him) and he was alone. Bob is about 80-something. Poor thing. His wife just died last year. We had asked him to come over, but he said he wasn't feeling too well so we took food for two days over to him.

Then, about 3 or 4 hours later, an ambulance came and took him to the local hospital. My sisters said it was because he ate some of my broccolli casserole...the snots.

He's home now and it was just a touch of the flu. Poor dear.
