I do. I met a guy from the parish next to mine at the ice skating rink. He asked me to skate during couples only. Turned out we had lots in common. He lived about a mile away, went to Catholic school, played basketball as I did, was also from a family with five children, etc.

He started coming over every day after school. Woohoo. I was in love for the very first time. He asked me to the CYO Christmas Dance. It was held in the gym with a live band. He picked me up, while his dad waited in the car. What a hoot. I believe the big slow dance at the time was Color My World, by Chicago.

And then he gave me a gold Monet bracelet for Christmas. Remember them?

Yes Going to the scout party with a boy then being asked each year.An annual date!!It was innocent and looking back really it was getting asked that mattered.
He told me later it was because my Granny has a very large teapot and he asked me so I would do the favour of lending it for the party..We knew each other so well that no way could we have romanticly connected. He was two weeks older than I and I cant remember not knowing him.

I can't believe you all can remember much so detail. I'm going to have to call Mother and see who was my first date. I can't even remember what I had for lunch TODAY. And that was 30 minutes ago.

Okay, Mom and I agreed it was Connie. Bless his heart he died of cancer about 10 years ago. I just adored his family. We all went to church together and my big date consisted of him picking me up at home, taking me to church, a hamburger afterwards, then home...all by 9:00. I was in the 9th grade.

My first date: I was sixteen and had never been kissed. His name was Malcolm Callahan and he was from Georgia or somewhere southern where his family owned a plantation, sugar I think, not sure. He was nineteen and stationed in Gary, Indiana, for the Army. Gary was celebrating their 100 year Centennial and I was going to wear a huge hoop skirt like Scarlett O'Hare, a pretty bonet and ride on a covered wagon in the parade. Each wagon had an Army volunteer driver and he was mine. He was about 5" 9'. Nicely built with these dreamy blue eyes and light brown hair, short cause of the army. We met during the two weeks of nightly practice we had to attend before hand. After the parade there were events and a carnival at the big park and he and I became inseparable for nearly 8 months. My parents loved him too. Unfortunately he was shipped off to Germany and several months later, I met Eddie who became my first husband. I have always wondered what became of Malcolm.. he had the sweetest southern accent. Called me Daaalin...Oh, gives me goos bumps even now.

Wow, he was such a great guy too, and cute as a puppy...and you all know how I just looooove puppies. That would really be a hoot, especially if he was single and remembered me...That would have been 1955 or 56.

It was 51 years ago, I was 16, so he was 19 then or so. Maybe in his late 60's or early 70's...I know for sure his family had some kind of a plantation back then.
