This is an excerpt from an email I got from the daughter of a dear friend who passed away from cancer 6 years ago. I hadn't seen or spoken to the daughter for at least 4 years, and she found me via an internet search. The letter touched me so much and I just wanted to share it.

Quote:

You always made my mom so happy. I also wanted to let you know that your poem that you wrote for my mom when she passed away meant so much to me, my dad and my brothers and is still on my dad's refrigerator and it is read every day. (I read it every day until I married a little over two years ago.) I just wanted to let you know how much your smile, your love, your cheer and your words meant to my mom (and to me) when she was alive and how much your beautiful poem still means to us almost six years later.

I don't even think I did anything all that special -- but sometimes it's the little things, the things that are so easy for us, that mean so much to someone else.

Meredith...what a beautiful tribute to the beautiful person that you are! We do touch others deeply without ever knowing it...how nice that she took the time to share it with you.

Meredith, how wonderful. I am sure that you have made a large difference in many people's lives without ever knowing it.

What a treat for her to let you know the impact this poem has made on her family.

Meredith, I got tears in my eyes. Just imagine if we all told someone how much the things they've done mean to us - we'd all realize how much we are really needed and appreciated, even for the little things.

Jane, Anno, Kathy -- Thanks, gals!

Kathy, I agree -- telling someone we appreciate them is something we all need to do more of. Just crawling out of our shell and remembering that it's not all about us.

Every kind action and word ripples out to the universe.

And try a little harder I shall. Thanks Ms M for sharing. You've always treated me with kindness and respect. I can just imagine the poem and the piece of you that went into writing it. What love. Now THAT's what its all about.

Meredith, beautiful deeds do get noticed. How beautiful of her to let you know how much your kindness means to them still today! Congratulations!

How often we just don't say or show appreciation for what others do in our behalf. We should be quicker to thank and slower to criticize others. May we learn to find the blessings in the little things life brings our way!!!
