I subscribe to Time and would still have to know whether the articles published are common to all countries where it is in circulation, Which? (a British consumer magazine), National Geographic, Private Eye (another British publication), Jubilee Action, Cafod and a gazette for my profession. I come across most of the magazines mentioned here at my dentist's, doctor's surgery, hairdressers and etc. and enjoy browing through them but, I also get the counterparts i.e. identical articles, from the bulk of inserts within my newspaper subscriptions. I read Oprah's online. For the most part, I miss Look/Life magazine because of the photojournals.

Oh I almost forgot two of my favs....Mary Engelbriet's Home Companion...and the other fav is Bedroom and Bath (put out by Better Homes and Gardens). I love that one in particular because it always has something in there to please me.

I haven't read a women's or fashion magazine in years because all the articles seem the same.

I subscribe to Ms. I've read it since Day 1. Sometimes I read Discover or The New Yorker at the library. I read articles of interest online from PC World. I also read excerpts online from Poetry, and The Sun Literary Magazine, and have thought about subscribing to their print issues but not sure if I have the time to read them regularly.

I don't purchase magazines anymore. I did buy Women's world several times after JJ's story was featured but that's it.
I use the Internet for practically everything I need to know about anything these days.

Hannelore, Iliked your post about hubby putting magazines through your burial slot for when you have time to read. You're a hoot!

Georgia, I even like the ads in Southern Living. I think the whole magazine is beautiful. I'd love to be able to visit all the vacation spots they recommend.

I buy the occasional Reader's Digest and Health Digest, the sporatic Newsweek and Self or Fitness Today...magazines have hit the skids on so many levels though in my opinion.

Most of them are fluff and cotton candy for the brain. Most are very predictable. After Christmas and New Years, look for a barrage of weight loss articles and spring fashion. In the fall, look for recipes and Holiday articles. Blah, blah blah.

Science Digest sometimes has interesting articles and Newsweek, if its not slanted one way or the other.

Newleaf, those magazines have seasonal guidelines for the stories they look for. In the writers' guides which I get, it states exactly that: "In January, we are looking for weight-loss articles. Etc., etc.." Same old same old is right. I mean, do any of those diet articles say anything which you haven't read at least 1,000 times before, in almost exactly the same way?

I've read articles in writing mags about the top 7 stories that sell. You guessed it -- more of the same old same old. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
