Is there any prayer, patron saint, or simple advice for a constant pain in the heart and mind. Melancholia is so very debilitating. I am such an emotional person, too much so, but that is my nature. I'm sad a lot. I have a great deal to be thankful for and I am, but it is overshadowed by the "blue" feelings and the anxiety and the worry and the fear, and the way certain things, even a smell of the autumn air, evoke memories.

Here's a beautiful prayer that I love:

Oh God, Refresh and gladden my spirit, purify my heart, illumine my powers. I lay all my affairs in Thy hand. Thou art my guide and my refuge. I will no longer be sorrowful and grieved. I will be a happy and joyful being. Oh God, I will no longer be full of anxiety, nor will I let trouble harrass me. I will not dwell on the unpleasant things of life. Oh God, Thou art more friend to me than I am to myself. I dedicate myself to Thee, O Lord.
