My little ones really like bologna.....it's like a hot dog flattened into the shape of a pancake.

They were eating some for lunch today and I thought I should make myself a sandwich. I wished we had white bread, though. Our pantry holds whole wheat, which just isn't the same with bologna.

While eating it, I started to crave Doritos chips......and Diet Coke. Darn! No cheesy chips in the pantry. Those 3 things make for the perfect junk food lunch - better than fast food! Some days we need to take a break from the healthy eating. My husband always says, "Everything in moderation."

At the end of my dry sandwich with lettuce and fat free Miracle Whip, I missed my friend. My last face to face visit with her was over a bologna sandwich, Doritos and Diet Coke. That was about a year ago.

It was a spontaneous luncheon. She called to tell me she was bringing over some things for me and asked if I needed anything. "I'm having bologna for lunch. It's not the same without Doritos and Diet Coke. Can you pick up a small bag and bottle?"

She arrives with a 2 liter and full size bag. "Got any extra bologna for me?"

Now, that's friendship....tried and true! Gosh, I miss her! Can't wait for us to meet in person again! You bring the chips and soda, I got the bologna (with white bread this time)! [Smile]

This is very sweet indeed. Mom use to fry bologna and then put it on white bread with ketsup. Took that to school most days for lunch, still like it today every now and then.

As you know, I grew up in Newfoundland, Canada. We are True Baloney eaters. We eat it fried at breakfast/ or on toast. A slice of THICK raw baloney, bag of chips and a Pepsi is a "lunch". Baloney, fried onions, gravy (dark) over mashed potatoes with sweet peas is supper. We love it so much so that we call Baloney...Newfie Steak!

I don't eat it anymore since I starting eating healthier. [Frown]

Both posts are funny. Bologna gravy Smile? Newfie Steak? I've heard everything.

I'm eating healthier also and would die for bologna...but that will come later!

No Danita, it's "baloney" gravy. Kind of like fine wine, the source gives it its name and is very important as to the quality.

Around here, it's definitely baloney.

It's easy. My sister and I did it any time Mom was gone. You quarter some slices of baloney and brown it in a skillet then put a little flour in and brown that then add some salt and pepper and milk and you got baloney gravy.

You serve it with the fried baloney and some big homemade biscuits. The yanks probably call it balogna gravy, but around here, it's baloney gravy and baloney gravy tastes a lot better.

YUM!
