A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems. A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.

A simple friend wonders about your romantic history. A real friend could blackmail you with it, and wouldn't.

A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument. A real friend calls you after you had a fight.

A simple friend expects you to always be there for them. A real friend expects to always be there for you!

Vicki, My friend Linda fits all of the above. Of course, it is a little harder(refrigerator) since I moved away, but we now have a long distance real friend, friendship. Thanks for posting this. I am going to copy it...I'm holding up my end of the bargain, too. What opens our hearts to specific people? They do.

I like to surround myself with real friends. Whenever someone visits I tell them that my home is open to them. If they want something they should feel comfortable enough to open the refrigerator and get it.
