I'm in the process of putting spring/summer away and getting out the autumn/winter. I'm late, but the weather's been gorgeous here.

I'm getting rid of the stuff that I've been holding on to thinking they moght fit again...some day. WHo am I kidding?

It feels good to get rid of stuff!

I give what I don't want to the Good Will. A couple times a year
I clean out the closets. And yes. It's great to get rid of stuff.

I have been giving my unused clothing to the womans shelter here in town. I also go around and collect kids clothing and womens clothing from other people. It is a shame to allow clothes to just hang in a closet when so many people have nothing. Don't forget hardly worn shoes too.

Chatty,
I agree. The nursing homes need clothing. Like you said, the
shelters and Salvation Army and AMVETS. I've got to go through
the closets again, and take out what isn't getting worn.

If you could have seen the faces of the administrator of the Hospices here when I walked in with dozens of hardly used books. You'd have thought I came with hundred dollar bills in hand.

The same way with clothing for Safe Nest our local womans shelter... A week or so ago I dropped off a half dozen baby afgans at one hospital for babies who have no parents for one reason or another. I want to do the same for the other hospitals too but it will take lots of time, so I have the crafters in the resort also making blankets. What fun!!!

Out with the old. Chatty, that is so wonderful about dropping off the afghans. What a great idea!

Thanks for mentioning AMVETS, a very fine veterans service organization: http://www.amvets.org/about_us/who_we_are.html

I donate to them and Goodwill, and I support Goodwill by buying clothes from them as well. Places like Macys give their out-of-season still-tagged clothes to Goodwill, and if one has the time to go through the racks, there are such bargains to be had.

It's silly, but a few of the clothes I keep are sooooo worn and old, yet I keep them for sentimental reasons. lol Yet I can give away unworn outfits with tags still on them. Go figure!

Josie, I've been cleaning out. I found a few pieces of my kid's clothing from when they were little; a baseball hat, a precious teeny jacket my daughter used to wear, a Halloween costume, a little sailor suit, couple favorite blankets. I still didn't get rid of them.
