I am a blogger. Have been for four years and have still to make money at it. (http://www.midlifejourney.com) I've spent hours researching topics, writing articles, posting posts, trying to drive traffic to the site. I've joined the social networks, including this one and slowly am making progress. Recently I met (via the internet) a very successful entrepreneur named Yaro Starak who is making a very great deal of money. He creates membership sites and is now teaching a course online. I've signed on. Wondered if any one in this forum has created a membership site or knows more about it. (By the way, if you want to know more about the topic I've created a post about it on my blog. - address above) just do a search for "mastermind". Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Hi, I have a product line and advertise on blogs. I check out the number of hits a site has using on line counters. If it's good, I run a three month trial.

For Midlifejourney:

In some professions, (and I am not referring to a reporter, as the esteemed Starok mentions), the blog itself is simply a content technology tool to do the following:

*supplemental marketing tool to the author's true area of substantive expertise ( lawyer, in-person business consultant, accountant, educational facilitator, etc.)
*distribute teasers of content written by the author with some summary analysis
*a community of practice / some shared interest
*a fast way for volunteer /non-profit organizations/for-profit organizations to post their meeting minutes, news within their industry and about their members. It is easier to manage content generated by an organization to its priority communities of practice/clients. Instead of creating a website.
*an online resume for a person

What current products or services do you provide that generate money at this time? If you didn't have your blog, what it is?

Hi Di, I advertise on blogs that already have paid advertising -usually down the left and right sides of the blog. Or they have a forum and the head of the forum will recommend the product but only if he tries it and likes it. Here's on a recommndation on a popular forum.

For Orchid:
My main blog is midlifejourney.com The focus is to provide a resource for midlifers... subjects range from health and fitness, to romance, travel, finance... though the major content for the daily posts is health and fitness. I have joined ClickBank which is an affiliate site and add selected products to my site that I think the boomer generation might be interested in using... Still working on building subscriptions and driving traffic to the site. It takes a lot of effort and networking, one of the reasons I joined BWS! Tell me about your focus... do you have a blog or site as well?

I am a painter, but I am attempting to use my blog as a way to get my name out there for others to see. So far I have only gotten a few "cold" hits from the blog, but I know these things take time.
I would never try to do a business with the blog as my only means of getting the word out. More power to you!
