Chatty or others, I need a good cook's advice! I, accidentally, made chili hotter than WB and I like it.
[I grabbed a can of extra spicy tomatoes.] I had some left over and put it in the freezer. Now I'm thinking of thawing it up and using it; but, How do I lessen/lighten the spiciness? Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Ooooh, add a dollop of sour cream - that always helps for me.

Yep, like DD said, a bit of sour cream or yogurt will help take the "bite" out a little. You can also add a litle sugar or honey....or a large can of unsalted tomatoes.

DD and Cookie,
Thank you so much. I'll try the sour cream first and if that
doesn't help, I'll try the honey, then sugar. I hate to
waste food; it costs so darn much. I rarely get out of a super
market for less than $100.00 per visit. Good grief. I can't
just throw it out. You ladies are dolls. God bless!

You could also cut in half what you have, freeze half for another time, and doctor up the half you use plus add more meat, beans and tomatos but no more spice. Works everytime and you'll have chili enough for two times this way when you doctor the half you freeze.

to wonder where their brain takes off to!!! Holy cow plop; lol...

Your brain is fine but sometimes we are too close to a problem to see a solution clearly! What's that old saying:
"Can't see the forrest for the trees."

I told that saying to my cousin's daughter a while ago, and
she didn't know what I meant by it! It's strange what hits
us weird, sometimes! Thanks, Chatty!

So what did you end up doing to save the chili?

Chatty,
I haven't done anything yet. Probably this Saturday I'll doctor
it up; it's supposed to be cold [weather] that day. Love chili when it's cold [outside]. And I'll probably do what you suggest and add ingredients to calm it down and expand the amount.
