We have an HP 1022N printer. The cartridges are around $80. Has anyone used a compatible cartridge? If so, was it ok?

They run about 20 bucks!

Di, I wish I had an answer for you. My Brother printer cartridges cost about $85 and every time I buy one I am tempted to use the compatibles. But I read a long time ago that they can gunk up your printer.

I found a few articles, but they could have been written by folks who sell the compatibles:
http://www.articlesbase.com/computer-for...ter-563822.html

This article from PC Magazine doesn't address the issue of compatiblity, but does point out some interesting things:

Now that I think of it, my cartridges last a long time and I print a lot of pages. So maybe the $85 is well spent after all.

Well, what I did was go to Office Depot and purchased, for $10 less, their reconditioned. They GUARANTEE them. So far, so good. The reg price is $80 buckaroos.

We go thru them about every 14 months or so. Thankfully we get most of our printing done at a printer...the color brochures, prof labels etc.

I did fine some really cheap...like about $20..but i just don't trust that, KWIM??
