Hi Ladies,
I hope you have all had a great weekend. I just got back from Niagra Falls and Buffalo. My husband and I went to his godson's wedding in Buffalo. Watching these two young people reminded me of why we get married in the first place. They are so hopeful and untainted. Watching them take their vows in inspiring and the priest who presided over the mass reminded all of us who were married to take that opportunity to restate our vows to each other. It was quite moving, and a gentle reminder. Now, like some of us who have been married for a while or even more than once, I know that it is not all peaches and cream and downright hard. But weddings do seem to remind us of what the possibilities of marriage are. I felt so inspired this weekend, I just wanted to share.

Know the feeling...we just attended my partner son's wedding a few days ago. Alot of thought in the vows and speeches which was nice to see.

This young couple (in their late 20's), already were living with one another for past 3 years.

They don't plan to take their honeymoon until November..when it's cheaper to vacation..

Sometimes young love can be infectious when you hang around it long enough. I love attending weddings for this very reason.

I guess I'm jaded. I see Bridzilla on tv and go to weddings and wonder how long it will last and actually feel sorry for them. People spend so much money on weddings that only last a few years.

Thanks for sharing. It does seem we can be inspired by such simple things as young people taking their vows. It's wonderful, isn't it?

Cheers,
Darlene

NewLeaf, I'm sure there are some weddings that bring about those thoughts, but the ones I've been to lately have promise.

While hearing the vows is best, hearing the bride and groom each thank their parents individually is excellent as well. It is a rare occasion for a child to publicly thank their parents before a crowd of love ones and good friends.

When giving speeches and I'm ask what has been my greatest accomplishment, I always say, "Having my Mother say, I'm so proud of you." And it is. It always brings tears to my eyes to recall her telling me this. My parents were/are such lovely people!

I can remember the exact moment my mom and I became something other than mother and daughter, we became friends, sharing intimate secrets and dreams. I will never forget that and thank God everyday I could have that pleasure. My mom is such an extraordinary woman...

orchid, I'm with you - gracious people always touch me. I especially love it when my kids say thank you. I believe they mean it. I also love it when Ross says thanks for simple things. Three cheers to good mother/daughter relationships.

Georgia and chatty, you are blessed to still have your mothers with you.
