Media reports that cocoa mulch has been responsible for
killing several dogs that ingested the ground spread.
Never heard of cocoa mulch before this morning. But thought I'd share the info in case any of you decide to
buy it to put around your trees or plants.

Jabber, we meet again....thanks for this info.! I was searching for something to use as ground cover for my dog's play yard, and thought of mulch. Will be sure to stay away from this. (They've killed all the grass.)

Sorry Chats. Guess I either didn't see your post or didn't remember it. I wish manufacturers would not produce stuff that's
deadly to cats and dogs. Geese. The poor animals have such
elevated smell senses. And they don't know any better. If
a company knows the product kills, stop making it and make a replacement. If they're smart enough to come up with an invention, surely they're smart enough to replace it with a
harmless commodity. IMO!

No problem it must have been sometime early last year jabber. A reminder of these products is always helpful. Most manufacturers don't care and put stuff out even after it has been mercilessly tested on poor animals with negative effects. Thats a fact too!!!

Like that Swifter Wet Jet cleaner for floors. It can be deadly if a pet licks the floor, yet its still out there being sold.

It makes me so dam mad.

You know, I stopped using that cleaner after I heard that. I don't know why anyone would use something that hurts their pet.
It doesn't make any sense to me.

Hevyn,
I not sure about ordinary mulch. WB uses that around here, and
Xena never had any problems. And that nose of hers gets into
everything. I think the cocoa smell attracts animals and then, of course, they have to eat it. Guess the answer is to research whatever you're planning on using. Good luck!

They say rubber mulch is non toxic. I haven't decided if I like
the looks of it or not but have seen it used here and there.
It's hard to know what to do because one person will say something is non toxic, but after extensive research, someone
else says a specific item is indeed poisonous. Guess we just have to careful!
