I, now at 54 years old, still have a passion for cars. Being a girl/woman, my mother always thought that just wasn't right. Oh well, sorry mom, I just love those cars. Anyway, while going to work on a Friday, I saw a Chevrolet Corvair...does anyone remember a Corvair? The very same morning, I saw an old Chevy Nova...well! I just had to roll down the window and listen to the rumble of the engine; when I did, the fumes reminded me of the days I would go watch the guys race their cars behind an office park in our town. You would think I wouldn't like the fumes, but somehow, it brought back a smile. So, I'm a hopeless Gear Head, and lovin it! We all need to have fun with whatever it is that makes us happy. ....just my thoughts.

lindasusan, what a fun topic. I'm not a car buff; never have been, never will be, but, Ross is. He loves cars. It's his area of indulgence. He's like a little boy when he washes his car. We went to a party last night, and he washed his car in the sunny, 50 degree weather. He typically washes it before we go out on big dates. What a hoot. HE has every kind of cleaner you can imagine. He currently has a BMW, convertible, 3 series, or M series, not sure which, but it's his baby. He gets excited to drive it.
As a result, our kids love cars too. My daughter knows every car on the road and it cracks me up because I just don't pay attention. He still gets Motor Trend magazine.
Do you read car magazines.
chatty, our town has an annual festival and one of the streets is blocked off to showcase old cars. Ross loves to walk that street. My eyes just glaze over, like his do when I look at the jewelry.

I knew a librarian who loved watching formula racing car races.
My partner lost interest in cars over 25 yrs. ago. He does fondly recall his Volkswagon, Mustang, etc. in his 20's, etc.
But we live a car-free life. We are cyclists and after being on the bike saddle nearly daily, one does ...not...want the car fumes much at all.
I'm glad we don't have a car and he doesn't want to own a car, it allows us to refocus our money elsewhere.
I guess honest...I get more excited by different bike design models compared to cars. And there's a whole group of women elsewhere in this world, who genuinely get excited about different bike models, finishes, geometry, etc. It's pretty interesting...to witness such excitement among a large group of women for basically a mechanical thing..which can be a work of art in the eyes of the beholder. Many of these women are in 35-60 age group. Like us.
So I understand the car fetish..from the perspective of bike fetish.
