Just wondering if any of you grew up with Zippy the chimpanzee?? I was given the 'Zippy Goes to School' book when I was a child or about 3 or 4yrs, it was one of my most favourite books that I knew when my parents would miss parts of the story or even a word. They later found 'Zippy's Birthday Party' for me and recently I completed the set (yes I still have the two books) with the first book in the series Zippy the Chimp.

Apparently he was on a TV show in the 50s I think and lived with a family in their home.

I always wanted a chimpanzee all my life!!

I think that was the start of my love affair with your country. I used to get Amercian magazines when I was growing up and I'd see the ads for Sea Monkeys and think how wonderful it would be to have these pets!! Ha.....I know what they are now, certainly not the cute little sea like creatures in the advertisements.

Little ol' New Zealand was always so behind the times in those days!!

Flossie, I didn't have any of the books, but I had a Zippy stuffed doll that went with me everywhere. He had a rubber face and hands, with a beanie cap!
Thanks for a great memory!
