Wow, I haven't thought about the school gym dances in years. They were so much fun! Did anyone else have Square dances at their school? We used to do it in gym and then have a square dance at night. Even back then we thought they were corny but we all went!

I loved watching American Bandstand also!
Because it had a good beat and you could dance to it! [Wink]

Remember slow dancing under the spinning balls?

Chatty, I remember taking off my shoes becasue they were too uncomfortable to dance in. Then you went home and the bottoms of your feet were BLACK.

TVC, no square dances at my school. I remember lots of mixers. That's what we called co-ed dances with live bands, no lights, and heavy breathing. [Eek!]

I remember poodle skirts, ducktails, bee hives, bobby socks, and those black and white saddle shoes. And the Twist, The Jerk, The Mashed Potato, Chubby Checker, Elvis, Ricky Nelson, Leader of the Pack, Wake Up Little Suzie and so much more! Loved those sock hops!

I watched the movie"Hairspray" last weekend. You should watch that if you want to bring back some dancing memories. The dancers, dances, clothes, facial expressions, and so much more made me laugh out loud.

Wordcharmer, visit my website and go to my celebrity page and take a look at my Chubby Checker pictures. I saw him a couple of times in Disneyworld recently. He can still twist. [Smile]

How about the Stroll? Don't forget the Stroll. Anybody remember wearing pop beads? I had dthem in every color imaginable. (Of course, my father owned a jewelry store then.)

Louisa ... I'd forgotten about pop beads ... and I remember having so many colors and making long necklaces and then wrapping strands around my neck, or wearing them down to the floor, bracelets up the arms. LOL.

Thanks for the memory.

Blessings, Francine

PS -- What about charm bracelets? I got mine on my 16th birthday and it is filled with charms signifying wonderful events in my life.
