I read this great article in Parade Magazine on Sunday.

It starts "She is the experienced woman--open to love, sex, new dreams and spirituality and committed to revitalizing marriage. And there are millions more just like her."

The author is talking about us, ladies. Boomer Women.

I read that article too! I found it inspiring. I have felt stirrings lately that something new is waiting for me right around the bend. Maybe it's a second wind! Yea!

Lynnie.. children I see now, want whatever it is handed to them. They want to "take" it..

We on the otherhand.. knew we had to develop it ourselves.

That's my basic view

Great article!

However, may I say this? Whenever I read something that includes the assumption that "motherhood" or 'kids under foot" are a "given", I get this "gut-wrenching" that this article is not talking about nor including me, a childless woman.I immediately lose interest and choose either to not read on or to not even continue to the end.

Not trying to be demeaning, but honest in that this is just one example where CNBC women feel left out of the loop. Never having had a "child under foot", I feel my role as a "seasoned woman" is quite significantly different. I am STILL trying to FILL my life, and no longer waiting for filled arms of joyful cooing of an infant.

Ladies, this is my life. Empty arms forever is such a "shot in the arm" that we struggle to still become someone, for ourselves. We have always been independent and shall remain. Yet, when the day comes in our elder years, where we'll need to be dependent upon someone, there will be no open arms to receive us. [Frown] (This side of heaven,I mean!)

Personally I did not have my children so I would have someone to be dependent on in my elder years...How pitiful is that? I never want to be a burden to my children and I am willing to bet neither do any other mothers here.
