Well girls I have learned to knit and love it!!!!!! It is very comforting to me - don't ask my why - my problem is I like to knit now and I like to read - so I am staying up too late at night to get it all in!!!!

Hi Ellie...Glad to hear you're knitting. Lots of fun and so rewarding to finish a project. What are you knitting right now?

I learned to crochet but never to knit. Wish I could learn, I love the baby things. [Razz]

I was taught to knit by a little old English lady. She was amazing. She could have knit her way around the world.
She recommended I knit a 'tea cozy'. Hey, we hate cozy tea around here. If it ain't ice cold, we don't drink it.
So with my usual over confidence, I decided to knit a sweater. Being a broke college student, I chose the cheapest thread they had and got busy. Knitted like a maniac. Finally turned out with a bright pink sweater. It was Waay too big for any female I knew and the arms were too long for any gorilla.
But I decided it would work for my husband and he was young and stupid so he went along with it. We saved up money and took it to a cleaner to get it "Sized." The cleaner about croaked when he saw it. He was dying laughing. He asked who I knit that thing for and gave it back to us.
I kept it for years cause I loved it. Also it was a lesson in over confidence. But I finally threw it away a few years ago and that was the end of my short lived knitting career.

smile, isn't it funny how we save things like that? I still have a jumper my aunt made for me when I was about four years old. I don't remember wearing it, but Mom always made a big deal about how my aunt made all of us girls matching jumpers. [Wink]

Ellie, I can't believe your first project is a vest. I thought a beginner started with a scarf. [Wink]

My English friend insisted people start with a tea cozy. A scarf sounds like an excellent alternative. Take it from me, a sweater is not the way to go.
Knit ON!

Four years ago I began knitting a set of tiny nativity figures (no kidding!) and I almost finished the set but Mary didn't look quite right, I hope to find time to do a new one this year. They are a hit with littlies, my daughter loves to play with the sheep!
