I'm off to Foxwoods for a few days. I won't be online for a while. Not that it will be any warmer there, but at least the snow will look a little different there.

Louisa, tell us more about Foxwoods...

Just got back. Lost my shirt. Won't be going back there in any hurry. The place is huge and smokey. Even though there is a smoke free casino downstairs, you could get lung cancer getting to it. We had a great room that was huge, comfortable and had a nice view facing the front of the hotel. They have 3 hotels now. I didn't find the shops that terrific. In fact, I didn't spend much time in any of them (which is not like me)

Great place for people watching, but we found it sad that so many senior citizens living on fixed incomes frequent the place. The Bingo Hall was packed. Get out of their way when they come out and they are trying to get to a slot machine before it's time to get the bus to go home. One woman asked us for directions to something. She was wearing two watches on her left wrist. She said it was because they run by battery and one battery could go on her. "I have a bus to catch, you know." The worse thing is the people with oxygen tubes and portable 02 tanks sitting at a slot machine in a casino full of people puffing on cigarettes.

I think we'll stick to our B&B weekends and country inns from now on. Much more relaxing.

Wow. Sorry it was a bummer, but at least you know for sure that it's not your kind of place. I think I'd like the more relaxing atmosphere of a B&B as well. (Plus I'm cheap. A dollar in my pocket is worth more than 2 dollars in someone else's pocket) Is Foxwood in MA? I haven't heard of it.

Foxwoods is in CT. It's one of the ones run by the Indians. There are two of them right near each other. The other is Mohegan Sun. Foxwoods is the biggest casino complex in the world. We went to Vegas last summer. I loved it there. This one I'm not crazy about. Lost in both places. But we had a better time in Vegas.

Your description of the senior citizens sounds horrific. I hope we don't repeat that behavior as we age. The whole smoke issue blows my mind, but I've heard of people taking their oxygen off so they could light up.
