DI, thansk for sharing. There will be lots of articles about boomers because the very first boomers turn 60 this year. Now everyone is scrambling to see how we are going to ahndle retirement. There are people already creating retirement communities for us. Hey, we've changed everything else along the way. Why not chnage the way America does retirement?

Dotsie, right here in North Ridgeville Del Webb has a brand new retirement community for boomers. We also have another one under construction.

Several neighboring cities have these boomer communties already existing and many more planned.

I guess we're a bit ahead of the game here in northeast Ohio.

California is full of "55 and better" housing complexes, many of which have extensive recreational possibilities at their facility. It's almost almost a weird feeling to think that I'm eligible!

I live in one of those 55+ communities here in NH, and they are building more of them all the time. I absolutely love this lifestyle!

Super article. I just began writing for Maturity Times again and am meeting some very interesting women....besides the ones here that is. I also live in a fantastic setting, over 55 community thats like living in a year round resort. They plan many events for anyone interested, like for instance New Years Eve we are having a party in the big clubhouse with food, music and BYO bottle . We never have to leave the property to attend so are snug and safe as being at home and also no strangers crashing our gated community. Vegas IS a retirement destination for many active seniors like me....

Its amazing to me how active these seniors here really are, its like when they shed their jobs and the dismel places they lived for the sunshine here they explode with health and youthful playfullness. They actually look and say they feel younger.

Us Baby Boomers are on our way to becoming Crones - this is a good thing. I think we can do a lot at this point in our lives, we have or are developing our wisdom and can become a positive force. Watch us fly.

Has anyone found a web site listing these communities? If so, I'd really appreciate having it - thanks in advance!

Ladies,
Don't forget the resources here at your fingertips! Go to the BWS homepage and look under the RESOURCES FOR WOMEN!

Dreamer, your question intriqued me, so I visited Dotsie's pages and found this: http://www.eldercohousing.org/ under the Home and Garden section.

I'm not sure if it's exactly the info you were wanting, but I think it's a start.

There are tons of info pages provided right here at BWS. You can find resources for jobs, dates, housing, traveling, cooking, gardening... just about anything you can name.

Hope this helps!

JJ
