In this day and age with so many women working and in need of excellent childcare I wonder how many grandparents are helping out.

Do you babysit your grandchildren. Would you ever consider being their childcare provider, or are you?

Wendy does work full-time and has for many years but the only time I was needed as a sitter was on the week-ends when they went out on the town. Jason use to spend many nights with us. He has his own room and we took him to dinner and parks and fun places. I loved having him around but was always relieved too when he went home. I think I' [Razz] m too old for babysitting all the time.

I babysit my two year old grandson at least once every two weeks sometimes more. I see him more often when his daddy (my son) is home. My daughter in law's parents live in the same town as we do and they see him more often. I do think it rather strange though that I see him more often after he starting walking and getting into things than when he was a helpless infant. I love children very much, would like to see them more but on the other hand I do not want to be taken advantage of. My husband volunteers to babysit on occasion but guess what, who do you think looks after the child, not him. Three guesses. Chichii

I am going to be a grandma - for the third time. My son called and told me they are having their first child in August! They are in Canada so I will be taking a trip there for the big event.Wish my kids and theirs were closer. I'd baby sit ALL the time!

I'm baby-sitting right now cause the mommie has manditory overtime. My son is gone back to college and my daughter is at work. I don't mind, at least right now cause she's an infant. Actually, I like it more when she is here. Although I introduced the mother to an excellent childcare provider that I've personally known for many years, I like her here.

I've been sitting for my grandchild since she was eight days old. She was too young for child care and her mother HAD to go back to work at that point. How sad. There was alot of bunding time there though.

Now that my daughter and her 3 have moved out, I have more fun with my grandchildren. Kali has already come to spend a night and Saturday with me and we had so much fun!! Now I can spend all my time spoiling them and then send them home.

SHerri, I think it would be hard to have them in the house all the time. Then you become like another parent watching every move. Make the most of them being out of your home at the moment.

Oh nooooo! My grandbaby-girl is only 9wks old and I'm hooked! I think about her all of the time and wonder if her parents are tending to her every need. My own baby is 18 and the one that had produced this lovely babygirl is a 21yr old male ____.

Now, what's a granny to do? Sit and wait and make sure the child is spoiled properly or just do it herself? Any suggestions? [Smile]
