This is the grown up version of a kindergarden favorite.

FIRE ANTS ON A LOG

5 or 6 ribs of celery
1/2 cup smooth or crunchy peanut butter
1 tsp. maple syrup
1/4 tsp. cayenne, or to taste
1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries

Trim the ends of celery and, using a vegetable peeler or sharp paring knife, remove a thin strip lenghtwise from along the curved back of each celery so it sits flat without wobbling. Set aside.

Combine the peanut butter, maple syrup, and cayenne in a bowl. Stir to blend.

Stuff the peanut butter mixture into the celery pieces, and gently press the cranberries into the peanut butter. To serve as a finger food, cut the celery into bite size pieces (about 1 inch long) and arrange on a platter...

I remember making celery with cream cheese and raisins for the kids when they were little. This is quite a new spin on it.

Cayenne is an interesting ingredient in the above recipe.

Chatty, my aunt gave me this really easy recipe if you have kids visiting...forget that...anyone visiting.

Cook one cup light Karo syrup with one cup sugar until lightly boiling. Remove from heat and stir in one cup creamy peanut butter

Spray Pam on a 13x9 pan and pour in one regular size bag of Fritos. Pour peanut butter mixture over Fritos.

It sounds weird but the salty and sweet make the best combo. I loved it and I'm not really a fan of peanut butter.

Dianne,
Several of my younger friends have kids and I will make this and use them as a sounding board. I will tell you what they say. I think it sounds good and never put the horse before the cart, meaning; always taste before not liking something!
