Clean and chop a head of celery

Clean, pare, core and chop 6 hard apples

Drain 2 cans of pineapple chunks

Break 2 cups of shelled English walnuts into quarters

All pieces should be roughly the same size as the pineapple chunks, except for the nuts.

Put all the ingredients in a large bowl and toss to mix. Add mayonnaise and stir well until the salad is well-dressed. Refrigerate overnight and check before serving, adding more mayo if necessary.

VERY refreshing, and a huge hit for years with everyone that has a holiday dinner with us!!

We have made this for years for Christmas. My grandmother always made it until she lost interest in cooking (not to mention her eyesight and mobility in her hands).

Oh Lordy, this recipe would be my down fall. I love Waldorf salads and could eat the whole thing all by myself. [Big Grin]

You use enough that everything is covered and after regrigerating overnight, add more to taste. We like ours kind of wet, so we tend to use a lot!!
