Yes, there was homemade grandeur on the day... my partner spent hrs. thinking and cooking up gourmet dishes. Bruschetta with a hazelnut crumbly spread on French bread rounds Mango, tomato and red pepper salsa with lime juice, fresh lemongrass. Fresh tomato stuffed with goat cheese yogurt with fresh chopped herbs, pine nuts. (this felt like 1/2 of the meal) Pureed celery root broth soup...with seafood..fresh oysters, mussels, halibut chunks and clams. With fresh herbs, etc. Hey the soup makes sense, believe me. white pinot gris wine (from visiting wineries after our snowshoeing forays this past Christmas). bought gourmet little chocolate cake with edible bronze glitter sheen (had layers of light buttercream, very thin, some raspeberry gelee, etc.) *Earl Grey tea (Twinings of course. the real stuff.) Needless to say, I went to bed with an overly stretched stomach. For the past few months, my partner has been in this inventive gourmet dish cooking blitz.
