My best friend just emailed me that her dogs got sprayed by skunks last night and then came in the house. Her whole home smells like skunk. She's working on getting the dogs cleaned, but is at a loss for how to get the smell out of her furniture, carpet . . . even her purse!

Any experience or ideas??

Open bottles of vinegar? Baking soda? I am just glad that it is someone else, not me. Sorry.

Oh my goodness...what a terrible predicament, tell her to try Febreeze..they have one that covers pet odors...maybe that will work for skunk stink too...

Baking soda sprinkled and left for about an hour, then vaccumed-vacuumed( I always have trouble spelling that word!) should help.

"I went home and boiled vinegar then let it sit with the house closed up for 2 hours like I saw online. Then opened the house up and let it air out. The smell of the vinegar was almost worse than the skunk. We sprayed Ozium and burned incense. I can't tell if I am just getting used to the smell or if it is actually getting better, but it seemed better this morning. I will know better tonight when I get home after being away from it. I gave Bo another bath with the peroxide, baking soda and dish soap mixture and then rinsed her well. I also stuffed a 2x4 in a hole between the house and the wall on the side where they are getting into the back yard. Thanks for the forum ideas. "
