I also know that it is very challenging to run a forum because I usually end up closing my down. As you can see by my sig, I also run a site for the "over 50" crowd. I did read some previous posts, and I see a lot of bloggers and writers. I am always looking for good content to publish too - I usually ask you to provide a link back (either on a site or social network page) in return.
