Anyone ever had one?

I never get migraines. I've had one opthalmic migraine a couple years ago and it was totally related to stress.

Thursday afternoon I had what began as an opthalmic migraine, but changed.

I was seeing geometric shapes that were blocking my vision, no real pain but I took 2 Tylenol just in case. Because you can't read or do anythign while experiencing this, I decided to get under the covers with my clothes on, something I never do during the day. I fell sound asleep for about a half hour to 45 mintues. When I woke up, I reached for my cell and called Ross, then Jess. What I said concerned them. Ross picks her up on his way home from work on Thursday so they were to ether and I knew that.

Anyway, they raced home because I wasn't making any sense.

Ross told me he was calling my doctor, the doctor said to bring me to the ER. They did a CT scan of my head, a chest x-ray, blood work, and decided to admit me to do a sonogram of my neck arteries, and echocardiogram, and an MRI of my brain. Everything is fine, but I'm still waiting to hear if I have a brain.

Becasue heart disease runs in my family, Ross was concerned that I was having a stroke. He's aware of this type of migraine, but since I'd never had one, he wanted to be safe.

Apparently, I'd called Ross twice, then called Jess and was saying something was really wrong with me. I vaguely remember it. Then when he told me he was calling my daoctor, I kept asking who he was. Weird stuff.

Anyway, all's well that ends well.

I just wanted to share in case any of you or your loved ones ever experience this.

I was happy to be home in my own bed last night!

I might add that everyone at the hospital was extremely nice and professional. Every test ran on time. It was a rather pleasant experience, considering~

So happy to hear you're okay, and we know there's a brain in there somewhere! smile

Did you ever have pain, or just the vision issues and confusion? Glad you had someone nearby to call.

Dotsie, that sounds scary! Glad you got prompt treatment and are feeling better now. None of my migraines have been like that.

Wow Dotsie. that IS scary. But being the true trooper you are, you always stay positive and even try to see the light side of it. I'm sure Ross will keep a special eye on you.
Keep posting dear friend, and prayers are on there way, that this won't ever happen to you again.

Dotsie , you have been under enormous stress lately, dealing with your FIL and worrying about your own Dad...shoveling way too much snow ,and that is only the short list!!!..it sounds like you are always burning your lovely candle (sic) at both ends...I am so glad your husband was cautious and took you to the ER..but you have to take care of yourself Girlfriend...get some more rest, take a few days off and just chill ...PLEASE...You mean way too much to so many people!!!
Keeping you in my prayers...feel better soon.

I am happy to hear it was just a headache, a horribly bad one for sure but at least thats is all.

Once when 22 yeqrs old I was rushed to the ER with such a headache I couldn't see or lift my head. I was admitted and given something and told I had acute Sinusitis. Never had it before or since... I though I was going to die from the pain. Funny thing is I didn't ever have sinus problems and didn't have a cold when this hit me. Go figure!!!

Glad you're okay now.

Thanks for all the comments aldies.

The funny thing is that my head never hurt. I took the Tylenol just in case, but the biggest thing was seeing the geometric shapes that blocked part of my vision, and then of course, not remembering what happened for a period of time.
