Just got my sitting blood pressure done today. It's considered low, 88 over 67. Then standing blood pressure was done. Of course, blood pressure normally is higher about 98 / 77. I can't remember..since I didn't make note of latter.

About 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with low blood pressure. I was simply warned by the doctor not to get up suddenly from sleeping/lying down position.

Then after this ...."free blood pressure reading", etc. at a local drug store, a chiropractic tried to convince me to book an appointment.

I said no. already I know an employee who is hurtin' bad after some chiropractic visitst that actually caused her so much pain she couldn't stand or sit for long in past few days.

Wow, that is low. Do you know why? I always thougth low blood pressure was a good thing.

I ahve a friend who recently retired and she had high blood pressure. Her blood pressure has gone downw 67 points on the top number since retirement. Isn't that amazing? I'm so happy for her.

Kudos for your healthier friend!

I'm not clear why my blood pressure is low except cardiovascular fitness can lower it. I think some years it has been normal...during all these years of cycling.

My father is 78 and just 5 months ago he was diagnosed with low blood pressure. I think the same advice was given to me, was given him. But no, doctor never prescribed him any medication.

ANd interestingly he does not exercise much, except for his 1/2 hr. walk round trip to the supermarket to buy his newspaper, doing some housework with Mom. He does eat healthy and has for most of his life. Of course his diet would be way more "Asian" pure than mine. My diet is corrupted by more sugars, well you know...

He is small-framed guy at 5'3"..110 lbs. who walks with a small stride, but sprightly.

So I guess it has to do with heredity, plus all of your biking.

Well, more to do with my smaller size in general, rather hereditary. My mother has a long history of high blood pressure. She is about 30 lbs. overweight.

I got a fast response from doctor sis (the one who lost 50 lbs. from changing her diet to healthier in general and jogging). "Bp" is blood pressure:

"about the bp thing....really don't worry about it.
only an issue if you are on bp meds (ie. you maybe on too much) or if you are symptomatic....ie. dizziness when standing up quickly, and other scenarios that i can explain to u.....but really u are probably low to begin with ....this is just u baseline. don't worry.
smaller people/women often have lowish blood pressures.....not a big deal. be thankful...a sign of being healthy!!"

Her comment about meds is IF I was on any type of blood pressure medication for other reasons, then I would have to worry. But I'm not taking ...any type of medication for anything at all. And haven't ...except for topical acne and tetracyline pills treatment when I was teenager.
