Dear Friends,

If you don't see me around here for a while, I will be out of town, attending MIL funeral and then visiting my terminally ill Father.

Pauline is Steve's birth mother, but the aunt who raised him is who I consider as his Mother and my Mother in law. Anyway, she was still his Mother and he is grieving, and for the lost time they had, and also guilt for not thinking of her as his (Mom)

Thanks everyone, you are a great group, and I was blessed when I found this site.

Sherri

Sorry to hear of your husband's loss. I found my birth parents 7 years ago and since they live across the country from me, I haven't seen them much and worry about them dying before I get a chance to know them better. I know I'll never have enough time to make up for the 40 years I didn't know who they were at all.

I'll keep your husband in my prayers.

Mary, I wasn't raised with my father around, and I only got to know him when I was 40. I have tried to make sure that I talk to him regularily, and regret the lost years. I cannot go back and change them, so I am thankful for the relationship that I have with him now.

I always searched for a Father Figure, and now I have found my Father only to lose him after only knowing him for 54 years.

Thanks for your prayers and thoughts.

We will of course remember you and your husband in our prayers Sherri. It's so difficult when one we love has passed and so hard to say good bye. Believe me, I know. Tell your husband to please acknowledge his own grief and emotions, and allow himself the time to grieve. That along with your love and support will help him work through this difficult time. Take care of yourself as well.

Blessings to you both,

JJ

Sherri, The Lord comforts those who mourn.

When Mom died someone wrote this in a sympathy card. It was so simple, but gave me the confidence I needed to get through my mourning. I took it as a promise from God and it gave me strength and assurance that #1 it's okay to mourn, and #2 God would comfort me.

Praying you find the strength in such simple, yet powerful words.
