I always love learning about people's belief systems and celebrations, sso it is kewl to hear what you're doing! Thanks for sharing with us. And I get what you mean by expansion...although I don't think a short fast would do the trick for me...maybe 3-4 months (grin) would make a dent!

You're right. I did transpose the numbers. Tishrei 5769.
A sister and I were doing some research years ago and she found this calendar we put on our desktops... I'm on a different computer now, and I don't remember where or how she found it... but it was full of information. In my youth, I wished I was Jewish, I think because of something my mom told me.

I so love that...I truly believe, with all my heart, that a "custom built" belief system is so essential. Although others may disagree with me (believe me, many have!), I believe this is the way we build a world full of love, kindness, passion, purpose, and tolerance. I've touched on many belief systems since as far back as I can remember and am realizing how much I've gathered from many different places. It is only in recent years that I've started to trust my own heart to know what is best for me and to live it, regardless of what the outer world says.
Unfortunately, I don't have a great knowledge of the details of Judaism...only the big swaths of information I've gotten along the way. I have no doubt, I've had a lot of "mis"information too! With my newer mindset, it will be interesting to see what crosses my path as time marches forward.
Blessings for the New Year and the gracious celebrations that entails.
P.S. And I LOVE that saying! It is so true!
