This is connected to my overall spiritual belief that everything that ever is, was or will be, is connected through time and space and energy.

Since early childhood, I've seen places before I ever went, and knew people the moment we met. I never thought of myself as psychic, but learned to trust my intuition.

I think it runs somewhat in families. I remember once when I was 13, my mother started shaking right before our phone rang. She answered, and all she said was "I know." Her mother had just died in Florida, and the call was from a family friend who was with Grandma at the end.

Over the years I've had flashes now and then but nothing major. Then it the past few years -- post-chemo? post-menopause? -- it blossomed. I see so many things so clearly, both people and events. My best three girlfriends and one boyfriend are all psychic. I believe we are together for a reason.

Some people know from the beginning, and others have to reach a certain stage in their life before it comes to them. For me, I believe certain emotional baggage had to be dumped before the sight began to come in clearly.

I can't summon the Gift, but the Gift summons me.

More later, if I get any respomses.

OK, I admit that the word "psychic" makes me nervous. But I also think there is much about the world we do not know. Some of it we may not be meant to know or even want to know if it were offered to us.

I have suspected for a long time that time is not linear and that we know more about the pattern of our lives than we realise.

Is the "sight" you speak of a blessing or a worry to you?

Ms M, please explain more about this "gift"...

Maybe how you first discovered it, how you have used it, or anything else you would feel comfortable offering/sharing. If this is too personal or private, overlook me, k? No prob

Note that I use the words "sight" and "gift" interchangeably. "Knowing" is also the same thing. The word "psychic" often has bad connotations because of the charlatans who prey on people for money. Then of course, there's also the history of witches (from the word "wicca" which means knowledge) burned at the stake, and certain religious prejudices which decry any knowledge that might threaten the religious faith. However, many people are psychic to some degree although they don't use that word. If you ever had an intuition which proved to be true, that's pre-cognition (see Julie's comments on the non-linearity of time.) Either way, I think people get too hung up on nomenclature. The more I know, the less I need to define or circumscribe.

Julie, how did your daughter know about her grandfather? Did you ever ask her when she got older, about that or anything related?

My greatest gift since early childhood is my ability to know somebody; I just see into their heart and know exactly who they are. My friends are continually amazed at how non-judgmental I am, but I think it's because I see both the bad and the good; I like almost everyone in spite of their flaws. I see the larger picture because most bull---- washes right over me, sort of like the Emperor's new clothes. I can't recall ever being wrong in my assessment of someone's character. Six times in my life the hairs on my arms stood straight up, which told me I was in the presence of danger so I left ASAP.

The sight imparts a great calmness because I know I walk the path I'm meant to be on.

More later.

Meredith, I can relate to your words about gifts and walking the right path. Though we don't share the same faith, I see similarities.

I believe we are all given gifts. It is when we discover those gifts and use them as God intends that we are on the right path, and it feels so good.

Dotsie, I thoroughly agree. I believe that a significant part of everyone's purpose in life is to discover their gifts, and use them to better the world around us.

I also believe that the answer lies inside us; we just need to look.

When Barbara Mandrell received a grammy years ago, she said "My talent is God's gift to me. What I do with it is my gift to Him." I'm not sure that originated with her, but it's a good thought.

I think a lot of people failed to see their gifts because they are looking for something on a grand scale such as playing a masterpiece on a piano, being an artist, a doctor of healing, another Stephen King, if you will. I often hear this from my friends and think...but you are the first to rush to the aid of friends, you are the one that comforts when nothing else helps, you are the one that is first in line for volunteering at charity functions, and on and on...gifts come in all shapes, forms, and fashions. Don't overlook or underestimate your gift. It's there. We each have them. And yes, they are gifts from God.

I do believe that everyone has the gift to see, to know or whatever you want to call it. I believe in God with my heart and soul. When my spiritual path is right on sync with God,,,He allows me to see things and to know things before it ever happens. I too can see into peoples personalities...I too do not judge and accept a person for who they are. I don't hate anyone...I see good in everyone. My friends are amazed of this about me. I've had precogniton dreams and they have come true. Maybe not exactly as I dreamed it but I knew something was wrong. I get to where "I just know that I know" its wierd but true. I take that as God speaking to me. Sometimes I can think my husband's, son's and my mother's thoughts. It really fun when we can say something at the same time, with the almost same words, about the same subject in stereo....when we do this we kind of go....lululululu...twilight zone theme....hehehe.

smilingthru, I can relate to your thoughts and words being simialr to your family members. My husband and I are definitely in sync.

Also, my mom died 3 years ago and I'm glad I spent so much time with her because I still feel like I know her thoughts on certain topics. If she was still around I'd ask her some parenting questions, but I think I know what she would say. That brings me comfort.
