Here's a similar sad story: My SIL's mother died in Arizona. She was there and brought her ashes back to Baltimore for her memorial service. On the plane ride home she realized there was a DIFFERENT name on the box. Can you believe it? When she called to inquire, they said they'd put it in the wrong box. She'll never know for sure. What's up with the people who work in that business?

Maybe after a while they become jaded and are no longer able to empathise with the ones who are left behind. Maybe they lose sight of the fact that they are handling precious human life. I'm happy you and your husband were able to lay him to rest with dignity and even humor.

My husband has the best sense of humor. He has a very dry wit. By the time this fiasco was finished, he had me laughing so hard I had tears rolling down my face!

My Mom never dyed her hair in her whole lifetime, something she was quite proud of. They decided to give her a((( makeover)))? at the funeral home. When I inquired as to why, they said to make her look like her pic. A rinse right? Take it out! Nope, Permanent. We left it alone because Mom wouldn't have wanted any big fuss made...or would she? A difficult time to make decisions as it is and thenthey throw this at you. chick
