Dennis and I booked our tickets for 19 days in Ireland. We will spend the first 8 in Dublin, the rest of the time somewhere on the south coast.

Who has been to Ireland? What places on the south coast would you recommend? Anyone know any connections for helpers - I will be looking for someone to push Dennis around in Dublin.

We are hoping to meet Celtic, Lucien and catching up with Poppie, once again. Anyone else going to be in Ireland in late June to mid July?

And Mountain - originally we planned to spend the summer in the UK - London with my sister, taking a train and spending time in both Wales and Scotland, and then heading to Ireland. With my mom alone, I just couldn't take the whole summer.

But...

With my sister in London - eventually I will be back!

Anno, a trip to Ireland! Sounds wonderful. I'm so happy that Dennis is still able to travel such distances. And You are every person's dream partner.
I've never been there. JJ was there. JJ where are you?

The Red Cross (I am a long time member) may offer help to push and if not would suggest another association.

Been to Dublin and be assured of friendly helpful people who interact with visitors.
Some day come over the border to Scotland..

Thanks for the tip on the Red Cross, Mountain. I will check that out.

Our original plan included Wales and Scotland. We have both been to Scotland before, but never together. Wales, well, to be honest, Lola inspired us.

But with mom being alone, now, I don't want to be away that long.

We figured, this may possibly be the last trip, but we will go and go and go as long as Dennis is able, and I can push.

Thanks friends. I love to think about travel almost as much as the trip itself.

Lucky you. I hope you have a marvelous time. Is there a reason Dennis doesn't have a Hoveround, or some other electric wheelchair? He is disabled and certainly it would be covered by Medicare!!

Well, there is this small, but irksome, quirk in Medicare. He is not eligible for 2 years after he has been declared disabled. We have been covering his medical bill for the past 2 years.

We are hoping to hear from social security and medicare, soon, but right now I would rather put out money we don't have than fight a battle. Hopefully, Ireland will renew my spirits and give me every ounce of energy to carry on!

Anno, that's so exciting! Good luck on your trip.

While my expertise on Ireland is limited, I do some work with Marriott, and I know they have a community for frequent travelers and their most loyal customers - their Insiders community. That could be a good resource for Ireland advice.

Come back and tell us all about it!
