The National Association of Baby Boomer Women, www.nabbw.com is proud and excited to sponsor the contest,

"What Boomer Women Want in 2007"

Disposable income, Boomer Women, spending power; that's what all the talk is about! What's the hype? That businesses need to market to us because we're the ones in the home with spending power.

That's why the NABBW has chosen to sponsor this contest. Let's share with everyone exactly what we want in 2007!

I'm betting the majority of the submissions will have nothing to do with “buying power,” but will include more ideas about healthy relationships, world peace, spending time with the grandchildren, learning new things, and traveling, just to mention a few.

All boomer-age (born 1946-1964) women are invited to submit their list of the Top Ten Things Boomer Women Want During 2007 to Dotsie Bregel, Founder of the National Association of Baby Boomer Women, www.nabbw.com and the number one site on most search engines for "baby boomer women," Boomer Women Speak, www.boomerwomenspeak.com .

If your list is chosen in its entirety, you win $100.00 in cash and a membership or renewal to the NABBW for F-R-E-E. Your name and email/Web address will also be included with future publications of the list. If one of your items is chosen you win $10.00. There could be as many as ten winners, so be sure to enter!

All you have to do is follow the guidelines below and submit your list of the Top Ten Things Boomer Women Want in 2007 to boomercontest@nabbw.com.

Please follow these simple guidelines to submit your entry:

1) Please submit your entry in a WORD document with your real name, email address, short bio, and Web site INSIDE the WORD document at the top of your entry. DO NOT SEND YOUR ENTRY IN THE BODY OF AN EMAIL.

2) Each list, (1-10) should be no more than two sentences.

3) In the subject line of your email put “What Women Want” and submit your entry to boomercontest@nabbw.com.

4) Deadline is January 30, 2007.

Can somebody tell me why the Boomer years were not rounded off to a tidy 20-year difference? Why the cutoff at '64 and not '66? Is it because we were considered adults at 18 and presumed to have reached independent living? But, most of us would have still been pursuing studies at university at 18. Therefore, were still dependent to some degree.

I always wondered why the cut-off wasn't 1960...

Here's some information I found:

William Strauss and Neil Howe, in their book Generations, include those conceived by soldiers on leave during the war, putting the generation's birth years at 1943 to 1960. Howe and Strauss argue that persons born between 1961 and 1964 have political and cultural patterns very different from those born between 1955 and 1960 and fit into what those writers term the Thirteenth Generation or Generation X (also known as the Cold War generation) born between 1961 and 1981. As the influence of Strauss and Howe has grown, a smaller number of people still accept Baby Boomers as including those born after 1961, although there are some who put the dates at 1946 to 1963 because of the number of significant "Gen-X" figures born in 1964. There were over 79 million babies born during that generation.

Thanks for researching that bamm, I've always wondered about this. A good friend of mine and I have always noticed the differences between ourselves and our younger, (not by much) siblings. In that respect, I'd say the Boomer years ended in 1960.
As far as this forum goes though, the sky's the limit! I think it's great that we can share womanly views with any and all ages.
