Wow! What class Pat Summitt is showing as she continues to deal with her recent diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer's Disease.

I am sad to see her stepping down as head coach for the University of Tennessee's "Lady Vols," as she - at only 59 - has won more college basketball games (1,098) than any man or woman in the sport.

But the good news is that she is not totally retiring but will remain part of Tennessee’s staff, assuming the title “head coach emeritus,” which will give her latitude and flexibility to do as much mentoring with players as her health allows, according to today's news release. ( More details here, in an article from the Washington Post.)

What a graceful decision, I say. And good luck to her in her fight against her disease.
