okay so here goes C...

cab, cabbage, cabin, cabinet

Hurriedly jumped into the cab,
making sure I had cash to pay the tab.

Had everything at the lake needed for dinner,
my tasty stuffed cabbage is always a winner.

Arrived at the cabin in the nick of time,
heard the clock on the fireplace striking nine.

Had plenty of liquor in the cabinet,
so my dinner guests tomorrow could keep their whistles wet.
