I took my baby by her small hand
And grabbed the Crayons from the TV stand
We sat ourselves down, knee to knee
To color together, just her and me

"What should we draw?" I asked my child
"A rainbow, Mom," came reply with a smile
How nice, I thought, as we began
Choosing colors wisely for our curving strand

I watched as she drew the very first line
How small her hand looked up against mine
But it didn't stop her, as string by string
She intently drew the entire thing

I looked at her face, which registered glee
When completing her task, she knew she'd pleased me
My pounding heart tried to leap from my chest
As she jumped in my arms and put her head to my breasts

Her skin was smooth and cool to my touch
How in the world could one love so much
Like the promise for Noah, I knew I was blessed
With my own little rainbow, her head on my chest
