doctor Paris chair wanted

I’m weary from traveling Europe,
I’m glad to be home in my chair,
I wanted to also see Paris
But just couldn’t get myself there.

The doctor says that I should stay home,
My knees and my brain need to rest
The creaking old joints just won’t budge now,
And the fog in my head’s quite a mess.

So here I shall sit and remember
The sights and the sounds of those days
In Rome and Madrid and Firenzi,
Marrakech, Lisbon, Pompeii…

But as wondrous and all that it was,
I have to affirm what’s been said,
That there really is no place like home
And I’m glad to be back in my bed!
