I've settled on a web site name but they ask so many questions on godaddy.com I'm afraid to start. They offer a ton of free things...do you take them all just because they offer them? They don't have a toll-free number so how do you ask questions? I can't believe I'm so not in this century yet!

Saundra, what are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to establish your domain name? I went through what you are going through, trying to do it all myself. It drove me crazy. You have to devote hours to getting this done if you do it yourself. I used iPowerweb. I built my site through their services too. And, there is an 800 number if you are willing to wait forever.

Yes, Lynnie, I want a domain name so someone can build my web site, and I want to be able to put it in my book on the author's page. I was told godaddy is the easiest. A computer person told me that - I'm going to strangle him. He's too busy to help.

Try register.com. That's another site where you can register domain names.

Saundra, are you interested in using a seb designer? I have a great one and she gives 20% off to NABBW members.

Saundra, if I could have afforded it I would have used Dotsie's recommendation when I was setting up my site. I also got lots of suggestions from our boomer sisters. I ended up using ipower.com for building my site myself. godaddy is pretty new to me. I don't know anything about it, not that I would.

Saundra, godaddy is one of the cheapest out there for domain names. I use them for many of my clients. They do have a phone number, but it's not toll free. You can order your domain and just say NO to all of their offers.

And just because you got your domain name there, doesn't mean you have to host your site there - although they are cheap and reliable with that as well.

No matter who you use, print out all receipts and email documentation, and add your username and password. Even though you think you'll remember it, you may not down the road right when you need it most.

As always, feel free to contact me for free suggestions and assistance: kathy@crowningtouchgraphics.com

Saundra, I use GoDaddy for my domain name and for my server. I've never had any problems with them. I have called a few times, (480) 505-8877 and always get great response.

Thanks everyone. Hey, Dotsie, what's an seb? Am I supposed to know about that too? Yes, I'll talk to anyone willing to talk to me if I can understand their language!

Oh. Okay, even I laughed at that one. I might be taking this too seriously so needed the laugh.
