Songbird Member Registered: 06/03/04 Posts: 2830 Loc: Massachusetts, USA	Have you ever attended a "Concert of Prayer"? Was it a positive experience? What did you like most about this kind of service? I'm trying to put together a special program for my local church and would like your input, pretty please <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> !

Dotsie Founder Registered: 07/09/08 Posts: 23647 Loc: Maryland	Our church certainly holds concerts full of Christian music, but no one has ever referred to them as a concert of prayer. I know poeple are prayerful while listening, but again that has never been the stated intention of the service. I like that idea. Run with it....It's peaceful. I think it would be interesting to have themes for 10-15 minute increments. The hymns would have to do with each topic and allow contemplative time to reflect quietly. You could start with praise. Then move to forgiveness, intercession, and God's will for self and world.

Songbird Member Registered: 06/03/04 Posts: 2830 Loc: Massachusetts, USA	Wow, Dots! You got it all figured out! Thanks! That's basically what I am preparing. Each segment of about 10 min. with a small meditation, special music and also songs for the whole congregation to participate in, and prayer for a specific issue and/or need. But this is a new idea at least in my congregation(and eah one where I've been a member of). I pray that this will be a unique and powerful experience!
