I brought this subject back up to the top to thank Chatty for posting it - I made these today and they were FABULOUS! Actually I realized just as I was ready to put everything together that I'd bought the WRONG type of M&Ms....I just grabbed a "large bag" but when I got home they were PEANUT M&Ms...they turned out just fine and were delicious with the nut addition. Didn't use the WHOLE bag though because the peanut M&Ms are bigger than regular.

DELISH! Thanks again Chatty for another winner..... [Razz] [Razz]

Actually, my sister called the day I was making them to discuss the family's Christmas dinner menu. She asked me to wait and make them for Christmas, for the kiddies, and so I won't be making them till Saturday. Dang it. Course I guess this is a good thing, because you know who would have eaten them all if I had made them earlier. I'll let you know. I intend to make them into balls since we have about 20 small children there.

Here is my recipe I've made for years for cheese potatos. My family would not let me in if I didn't make them for Christmas every year. I'd like to try something else, but Nooooo - they insist on the cheese potatoes!

Boil 10 med potatoes with skin on, peel and grate

In a pan combine 1 Cup Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese, 1 Cup Milk, 1 Cup Whipping Creme and a pinch of Powdered Mustard. Cook on low until the cheese is melted. Mix with potatoes. Bake in a pan for about 45 minutes until hot.

As you can see, this is not a diet dish, which is why I only make it once per year.

Here's another potato recipe that someone might like. It's something I made up and I never use a recipe so bear with me.

Cook a few potatoes in freezer bags in the microwave with the skins on until the potatoes are soft. Then cut them up skin and all in a large baking dish. Fry some bacon and stir the drippings into the potatoes. Add salt and sour cream to taste. Kind of stir around until they are mushy with a few small potato pieces. Add cut up green onions to give it some color and taste.

When the mixture tastes really good, sprinkle bacon bits and grate some cheese on top then put it in the oven until the cheese is slightly brown then serve and EAT.

YUM

Here's another nobake recipe.

Crush up about one packet of honey graham crackers (Never use the premade crusts). Add about two tablespoons of plain sugar and three of brown sugar and mix with enough real butter to make a crust, preferrably in a pretty Christmas dish. (The key is the crust)

Then beat up about one package of cream cheese with about 3/4 cup powdered sugar (or til it tastes good). Spread that into the crust then spread a can of prepared cherry pie filling (don't go wrong and get plain cherries--make sure it's the cherry pie filling). Then add chopped nuts to completely cover the cherries and prepare a package of dream whip and put that on top. Add a couple of marachino cherries to make it pretty and EAT.

Thank heavens we can't gain weight from READING recipes! These all sound simply yummy and I intend to try them all...I'll worry about the consequences - - - - - later! [Razz]
